Nottingham director named as 2017 ADCS president

The next vice president of the Association of Directors of Children’s Services has been announced.

Corporate director of children and families at Nottingham Council Alison Michalska will become the vice president of ADCS in April.

Alison O’Sullivan is the current ADCS president and she will step down in April when current vice president Dave Hill, director of children’s services in Essex, will take to the helm of the Association. At that time Michalska will take over from Hill as vice president and will become president herself in 2017.

Ms Michalska started her career as a youth worker before going into social work. She was the director of children, family and adult services at East Riding before joining Nottingham Council in 2013.

Alison O’Sullivan, president of the Association of Directors of Children’s Services, said: “At a time where the sector needs strong leadership I am delighted that Alison will be taking up the role of ADCS vice president in April.

“This is a challenging but important role and I am sure that she will relish the opportunities that it will bring,” she added.
