New tender wants partnerships to deliver “gold standard” training to social workers to improve recruitment and retention
The Department for Education is looking for partnerships to deliver “gold-standard” training for social workers.
The Department wants to support an approach where teaching partnerships match universities with councils to deliver high quality training for social workers and is looking for Social Work Teaching Partnerships.
Government wants to “raise standards and support councils in recruiting and retaining the best social workers and giving them greater control over the hiring of frontline professionals,” the Department said.
“This will improve the recruitment, retention and development of social workers and the overall quality of practice,” it added.
Social Work Teaching Partnerships are defined as an accredited collaborations between HEIs and employers which delivers high quality training for social work students and qualified practitioners and equips them to practise to specified standards in statutory settings.
“The expansion of the teaching partnership programme marks a long term commitment to academic rigour and valued research. Making sure practice is at the heart of all that we do is the key focus of this Government's social care reform strategy,” the statement added.
The tender said the funding would cover the period from April 2016 – March 2018 and applications should cover the whole of this period and be submitted by May 23 2016.
