Risk Assessments – Parents / Carers

We can offer you three main types of risk assessment undertaken by trained, qualified Risk Assessment Experts.

  • Parenting capacity risk assessments
  • Extended community-based risk assessments
  • Viability risk assessments

Parenting Capacity Risk Assessment

If you need to undertake parenting capacity risk assessments, our experienced Risk Assessment Experts can assess attachment relationships and children’s developmental progress as well as evaluating factors that might place children at risk of harm.

We also offer significant expertise in undertaking parenting capacity risk assessments in situations with significant child protection concerns, including neglect or a risk of sexual or physical abuse, parental violence or substance abuse.

Extended Community Based Risk Assessment

If you require assessments of vulnerable parents such as those with learning disabilities, we can combine extended observations with educational programmes that help parents meet their children’s needs.

We offer integrated assessments based on the Parent Assessment Manual. By using a variety of specialist approaches designed for working with vulnerable parents, we will produce a comprehensive report that addresses parental capacity and issues relating to risk and need.

Preliminary Risk Assessment (Viability)

When you need a preliminary view about the suitability of a parent or extended family member to care for a child or children, we can use our network of experienced Risk Assessment Experts to complete a viability risk assessment quickly. We can then undertake a more comprehensive risk assessment if required.
