Walker
I have practiced social work in Islington, Camden, Haringey and Enfield, in both community and Hospital settings and have 20 years of management experience. I have practiced as a generic Social Worker and as an ASW. I specialised as a Children and Families worker in 1992. I spent seven years developing a specialist Social Work Assessment Team, a Contact Service, a Supported Child Minding Service and two Day Care centres. We worked very closely with Social Workers and Managers in the Children in Need teams to achieve good communication and highlighting practice issues where necessary.
I am currently working as an Independent Trainer and Consultant. I am also currently an Associate Trainer working with Coram Family to deliver a course of 1-2 days to assist staff in setting up new Contact Centres and have developed other bespoke trainingand consultancy as required. I have carried out training and Consultancy with seventeen Centres all over England and Wales. I now deliver training to Local Authority workers such as Managers, Social Workers, Foster Carers and Family Support workers specifically around contact, both supervising and planning for contact, as well as training to assist in the planning and formulating realistic and helpful contact plans that are child focused. I have developed and run a specific course for Managers of Contact Centres and a one day workshop on recording for all staff.
I also have developed and used short programmes and workshops to assist Social Workers in carrying out assessments, using different tools and techniques and looking at recording and analysis of evidence and information gathered and contributed to multidisciplinary training for CAF. I have delivered a workshop at a Community Care conference and ran a multi Agency workshop at a Domestic Violence Forum in Haringey.
