Sue Justice

I have been a qualified social worker for over 30 years and have worked on an independent basis for a number of years. I spent 13 years in local authority social services departments in London, as social worker, assistant team manager and 8 years as a team manager.
I have worked as a Guardian on both the South London Panel and Inner and North London Panel and have been appointed as a guardian for more than 240 children over the past 15 years. I was the first Panel Manager of the Buckinghamshire GALRO Panel and held this post for 2 years.

I worked for 2 years with the Children’s Society pre-qualification. I spent 13 years in local authority social services departments in London, as social worker, assistant team manager and 8 years as a team manager. I had responsibility for supervising members of staff (including social workers in a children with disabilities team) and chaired looked after reviews and child protection case conferences. I also supervised adoption placements and was involved in care and adoption proceedings.

Whilst I was a team manager I initiated a number of projects including a social worker-school liaison system and raising funding for, and participating, in narrow boat holidays for children known to the social work team.

I have been appointed as a children's guardian for more than 240 children over the past 15 years. As a guardian I have covered the full range of applications including care proceedings, discharge applications, Appeals, contact applications, applications under the Human Fertilisation & Embryology Act and adoption. I have prepared reports for Family Proceedings Courts, County Courts and High Courts. I have also given evidence at court on many occasions.
