Sue Bach

I am an experienced manager and practitioner in the arena of children and families work, Child Protection and ‘looked after’ children. I have contemporary experience in the area of public and private law work including Rule 9.5 (Family Proceedings Rules 1991) as Guardian ad litem, Reporting Officer, Children’s Guardian and Family Court Reporter. In addition, I have extensive experience in undertaking and managing complex Child Protection investigations including allegations against professionals and large scale organised/historical abuse. I have a considerable working knowledge of legal frameworks and interface in the arenas of civil, criminal and employment legislation.

I have highly developed assessment skills in the areas of: the assessment of children and families – assessments of situations and identification of risk/risk reducing factors; Contact issues in public and private law proceedings; Residence issues in public and private law proceedings; Risk assessments – emotional/physical/sexual abuse/neglect, drugs/alcohol/sexual offences, domestic violence; Placement of siblings – assessment of attachment to parents and sibling bonds/relationships; Parenting capacity - short, medium and long term prognosis and the carer/potential carer’s ability to prioritise the needs of the child/’good enough’ parenting; Inter-country Child Protection issues.
