Sarah Randall

I am a qualified social worker with over 25 years experience working with children and families in a variety of settings. I have worked as a self employed Children’s Guardian in Norfolk for the past 12 years in all types of public law proceedings concerning children. I have significant experience of working with vulnerable children, and undertaking children and family, parenting and contact assessments, and advocating for children with special educational needs.

I have substantial local authority experience working with children and families in both area and hospital social work teams in London, including specialist experience in child protection work. I have management experience in a children and families team in Surrey, with responsibility for commissioning, monitoring and reviewing services, and chairing child protection conferences, multi-agency meetings, and statutory reviews.

I have undertaken substantial post-qualifying training throughout my career. In 1998 after completing research into adopters’ experiences of parenting I was awarded a Master of Social Work by the University of East Anglia. In addition I have over 11 years experience as a Trustee (and since 2006 as Vice Chair) of Network 81, a national charity which supports, advises and trains parents of children with special educational needs. I have undertaken training in the law relating to special educational needs and disability discrimination, supervise the Training Officer, and have assisted on the helpline answering parents’ queries
