Patricia Carter

I am a Qualified Social Worker, with twenty years experience of Social Work with children and families. I have previously worked as a Social Worker, Senior Practitioner, Team Leader and Service Manager with Local Authority Social Services Departments. I have undertaken assessments of parenting and child protection risk particularly within the legal arena and have provided reports for both multi-agency forums and the courts. I have attended many court hearings and given evidence in respect of the reports I have produced. In addition I have experience of direct work with children, E forms, the adoption and fostering process, looked after children, and Child Protection Investigations. I am able to conduct joint investigations with the police and have been trained to undertake video interviews with children.

I have sat on the Essex Safeguarding Board, and worked with both the Business and the Policy and Procedures sub groups chairing the latter. I have also chaired Case Conferences, Looked after Children Reviews, Harlows’ Children and Young Persons Strategic Partnership, CAF Steering Group and the Standards and Quality Group.
