Martine Symmonds

I have worked in Social Services Departments since 1981 and gained my professional qualification (M.A. Social Work / C.Q.S.W.) in 1989. My Social work practice over 24 years has been in varied locations within Kent and London. I have a comprehensive generic knowledge base and extensive experience in the assessment and management of risk in all client groups. I have worked as a senior practitioner for ten years including team management. I am familiar with statute governing interventions for mental health, children and older persons and its implementation.I provide regular training and consultancy for social and healthcare professionals.

Since 1991, I have worked generically. I have regularly practised as an A.S.W / Care Manager in Community Mental Health Teams in Kent and South London including forensic. I have experience of undertaking initial, core and s47 assessments within a south London Safeguarding Children Team. In addition, I have 15 years experience of working on Emergency Duty Teams undertaking statutory risk assessments out of hours for adults and children. I am familiar with Assessment of Care Framework and the Care Programme Approach. I had a risk assessment published in Community Care in 1999.
