I am an experienced qualified social worker specialising in risk assessments of men either convicted or accused of sexually abusive behaviour. I have 26 years experience of working with offenders within the Criminal Justice System. I have been trained in the risk assessment of both convicted and alleged sexual offenders. Additionally, I have been trained to assess non-abusing partners’ abilities to protect children if family reunification/reconstitution/ contact applicants are being considered. I have received substantial, relevant and up-to-date training from, among others, Dr. David Thornton, Prof. Tony Beech, Dr. Dawn Fisher, Prof. Don Grubin, The Lucy Faithfull Foundation and the NSPCC. I am experienced at preparing Risk Assessment Reports on adult sexual offenders for the Courts, Children’s Social Care Departments, Solicitors and other agencies, e.g. Local Education Authorities, Sports Governing Bodies, etc.
I have considerable experience of the Child Protection system and contribute to the multi-agency assessment and management of risk posed by sexual and other dangerous offenders. I sit, for example, on a Multi-Agency Public Protection Panel (MAPPP). I have facilitated both group and individual therapy for sexual offenders for many years, both in penal establishments and in the community. I have ten years (over 1,000 hours) experience of cognitive-behavioural groupwork for sexual offenders in the community.
