Christine Kennet

I have been working independently since 2002, which has involved numerous complex cases within the Family Proceedings Courts, County Court, High Court and the Court of Appeal. I undertake independent assessments for the courts and local authorities and also specialise in direct work with children. Since 2002 I have worked as a Children’s Guardian within Essex.

I have worked in the field of Social Work now since 1984 when I started working for Essex as a family support worker. Later as a student social worker and as a newly qualified worker I worked within a generic social work team, which covered childcare, adult mental health and other adult services.

Since 1995 I have worked solely within childcare services and have a wealth of experience working with child protection issues, court work, long term planning for children in care and assessment work, mainly for Court hearings.

Since 1997 I have worked mainly within the Court arena of childcare casework and have written numerous assessments, statements and care plans for court hearings and have seen many cases through the court work process. In addition I have written ‘E’ forms, schedule 2 reports, family and relative assessments, ‘F’ forms and core assessments.

I have managed Local Authority Children and Families teams and have experience of supervising staff and managing and prioritising risk.
