I am an independent qualified social worker and Children’s Guardian (cafcass) who has over 20 years experience of working with children, young people and families in various settings. I have worked as an independent social worker and as a Children’s Guardian (in Essex and Hertfordshire) for the past seven years.
Prior to this I worked in Local Authority Children’s Services as a Social Worker, Senior Social Worker, Team Manager and Service Manager. I have substantial experience in undertaking assessments where children are deemed to be at risk, including initial child protection investigations, both as a sole practitioner and jointly with the police. I am trained to undertake joint video interviews with the police (Memorandum of Good Practice).
As a social worker and as a Children’s Guardian I have experience of working directly with the child in ascertaining his/her wishes and feelings as well as undertaking ‘life story’ work with the child.
I have gained substantial experience in undertaking parent and extended family assessments, Form F fostering, adoption, step parent and inter-country home study assessments. In addition I have experience in completing Form E and Schedule II reports in respect of children whose care plans are for permanency by way of adoption or long-term fostering.
I have appeared in court on many occasions to give evidence and to answer to my reports.
